Digital Programmable Metasurface with Element-Independent Visible-Light Sensing

The application of jointing multiple physical field sensing with electromagnetic (EM) wave manipulation is a hot research topic recently. Refined perception and unit-level independent regulation metasurfaces still have certain challenges. In this paper, we propose digital programmable metasurface that can adaptively achieve various EM functions by the color changes incident light, which enables modulation. Integrating trichromatic sensors, FPGA, algorithm onto has established architecture for scattering modulation from complex optics to microwave wavelengths, wide variety light integrated PIN diodes sensors forms complete intelligent system adaptive reconfigurable coding patterns, within pre-designed control FPGA. We fabricated using standard printed circuit board (PCB) technology measured in far-fields. measurement results show good agreement simulation results, verifying our design. envision proposed visible will provide new dimension perspective.
